Which Bot Should I Start With on Pionex?

Beginner bot picker by risk: Arbitrage (extremely low, funding-rate based, historically 0.01% to over 100% APY), Sideways Gain (low, options interest), Spot Grid (low to medium, no leverage), Futures Grid and Moon (leveraged).

Pionex offers a range of automated trading tools designed to work around the clock based on the parameters you set. As a beginner, the most important thing is not to find the "best" bot, but to find one that matches how much risk you are comfortable with. This article introduces the main options available to new users.

Before you choose, ask yourself one question

How would you feel if the value of your investment dropped temporarily?

Your answer to this question is the most useful guide for choosing where to start. Different products on Pionex carry very different risk profiles, and understanding that difference matters more than any other factor.

Your options as a beginner

Arbitrage — Extremely Low Risk

This product earns returns by simultaneously holding a spot position and a futures short position on the same asset, which cancels out price exposure. Returns come from funding rates rather than price movement. It requires no active monitoring and is automatically rebalanced. The annualized yield fluctuates and is not guaranteed — it has historically ranged from 0.01% to over 100% depending on market conditions.

Sideways Gain — Low Risk

This strategy buys low and sells high while also earning extra interest through options. The main risk is that it may purchase coins after a sudden price drop, and if the price continues to fall, it may take time to return to profitability. It is suitable for users who are comfortable holding assets through short-term volatility.

Spot Grid Bot — Low to Medium Risk

The Spot Grid Bot automatically places buy and sell orders within a price range you define. It profits from price oscillation — buying when price dips and selling when it rises. It works best in sideways or ranging markets. There is no leverage involved, so you cannot lose more than your invested amount. This is one of the most commonly used bots for beginners who want to get familiar with how grid trading works.

Futures Grid Bot — Medium to High Risk

The Futures Grid Bot works similarly to the Spot Grid Bot but uses leverage, which amplifies both potential gains and potential losses. It supports neutral, long, and short directions. Pionex also offers a Futures Moon Bot, which is designed for assets expected to rise gradually over time. Because leverage is involved, it is important to understand how liquidation works before using this product.

CopyBot — Risk Follows the Bot You Copy

CopyBot lets you copy a live bot published by another trader instead of setting the parameters yourself. Your copy runs independently in your own account, and its risk level is the risk level of the bot type being copied — copying a Futures Grid bot carries leverage risk, while copying a Spot Grid bot does not. Following requires at least 100 USDT per copy order, and the bot’s author sets a profit-share rate of 0% to 30% that is charged only when your copy closes at a profit. CopyBot is available in the Pionex App only, not on the website.

Signal Bot — Advanced, Risk Depends on Your Own Strategy

The Signal Bot does not decide anything by itself. It executes futures trades when your TradingView strategy sends an alert to Pionex, so every entry and exit condition lives in your own Pine script. It requires a TradingView Essential plan or higher because the free plan does not provide webhooks, and each signal is filled as a market order with an order size between 1 and 100 USDT. This is the least beginner-friendly option on this list, because it is only useful once you already have a strategy you trust.

How to get started

Most of the above products are accessible from the Bot section in the Pionex app or website. For Arbitrage, go to Wallet → Earn → Arbitrage. For Grid Bots, go to Bot → Create and select the bot type. For the Signal Bot, go to Futures → Futures Bot → Signal Bot. CopyBot is App-only: in the Pionex App go to Home → More → CopyBot. Each bot creation page shows the minimum investment required based on your chosen parameters.

If you are unsure where to start, the Arbitrage product requires the least active decision-making and carries the lowest risk. For hands-on bot trading experience, the Spot Grid Bot with AI-recommended parameters is a common starting point.

Notes

Does placing orders or creating/running trading bots require 2FA verification?

No. Placing orders (spot/futures) and creating or running trading bots do not require 2FA verification.

Can Pionex trading bots connect to other exchanges, such as Binance, and operate there?

No. All Pionex bots, including Grid Bots, Infinity Grid, CopyBot, Signal Bots, and other bot types, can only operate within the Pionex platform. The funds and trading assets used by the bots come from your Pionex account, and the bots cannot connect to or operate accounts on other exchanges.

Can Pionex tell me how much I will earn, or how long it will take?
No. The returns from trading bots are influenced by multiple factors, including market conditions and the strategy parameters you choose, so we cannot estimate or guarantee specific returns for your bot. We recommend that you first make sure you understand how the trading bot works, and start with a small amount of capital before committing more funds. If you have specific operational questions about a bot, our support team is happy to help.

What does the APR or backtest data shown on a bot's page mean?
Some bot pages display figures such as a backtest APR (Annual Percentage Rate) or historical performance charts, based on how that strategy would have performed using past market data. This content is for reference only — backtest results do not represent future market performance, and do not predict how the bot will perform for you going forward. There is no "perfect" strategy that works in every market condition — only strategy and parameter combinations that fit your own risk tolerance and investment goals.
