FAQ
Q: Why does my Mastercard account show 100 USDT, but I can't buy a 99 USD item due to insufficient balance?
A: At the time of purchase, Mastercard will reserve an extra 1% of the bill amount, a 3.5% transaction fee, which is about 99 * 1.01 * 1.035 = 103.4897 USDT (for example). For a better spending experience, we recommend maintaining an extra 3-5% over the actual spending amount in your Mastercard account.
Q: Merchant shows a failed transaction, but the amount is charged from my MasterCard.
A: The merchant most likely placed an authorization (pre-authorization) on your card. The amount is held on your card balance, but until the merchant completes the charge, the transaction can still be cancelled.
Ask the merchant whether they cancelled the charge or completed it.
If the merchant cancelled it or never completed it, the held amount is returned to your card balance automatically. You don't need to do anything.
If the amount still has not been returned, contact Pionex Support with the merchant name, amount and payment time.
If the merchant says the charge was completed, request a refund from the merchant, get the ARN (Acquirer Reference Number), then contact Pionex Support with it.
Q: Why am I being repeatedly charged a 0.5 USDT payment failure fee, and can it be refunded?
A: This is typically because you still have uncancelled subscription services or recurring charge settings, and the merchant continues to initiate payment requests while the card balance is insufficient, causing payment failure. Please contact the merchant directly to cancel the relevant subscription or stop the recurring charge. The fee is charged for each failed attempt, including attempts the merchant starts automatically, and fees for failures that were not caused by a Pionex system issue are not refunded. Re-applying for a Pionex Card will not resolve this issue.
Q: I have already frozen my Pionex Card. Why am I still being charged a 0.5 USDT payment failure fee?
A: Freezing the Pionex Card cannot prevent payment requests initiated by merchants. Please contact the merchant to cancel the subscription service or stop the recurring charge to fundamentally resolve the issue.
Q: I tried to top up my Apple Account using my Mastercard, but it shows "Purchase Failed."
A: When you pay for an Apple Account top-up directly with a card (not via Apple Pay), Apple requires the card's issuing country/region to match the country/region set on your Apple Account. If they don't match, the payment will fail. Please add your Mastercard to Apple Pay first, then use Apple Pay to complete the top-up instead of paying with the card directly.
Q: Why can't I make a payment with my MasterCard?
A: MasterCard serves cryptocurrency payments; some merchants do not support cryptocurrency payment methods due to their risk policy on payment methods. You may check if there are any transaction records in your MasterCard. If there is no transaction recorded, it means that the merchant does not accept the MasterCard as payment.
APP: Wallet → Card → MasterCard → Recent Transactions
Q: How long does it take for a Mastercard refund to arrive?
A: The refund is expected to arrive within 30 business days at the latest.
Where to find the estimated clearing completion time: This is not shown on the individual transaction details page. Instead, you'll find it on the Card page, right underneath the card asset display — available on both the App and Web. Note: your app needs to be updated to the latest version to support this display feature.
Q: How many transactions can I make per day with a Mastercard? Is there still a daily transaction limit?
A: Mastercard currently does not impose any daily limit on the number of transactions. You can use your card as many times as needed per day for purchases, withdrawals, or card swipes, provided that your card balance and individual/daily transaction amounts remain within your account’s compliance limit.
Q: How is the exchange rate calculated when using Mastercard to make purchases in non-USD currencies (e.g., TWD, EUR, or SGD), and how can I verify it?
A: The foreign currency amount is converted by Mastercard using its applicable exchange rate at the time of the transaction. After completing the purchase, you can check the card transaction details to compare the actual USDT amount deducted with the amount in the local currency.
