Pionex has added a Family Card option to its existing Visa Platinum card product, allowing primary cardholders to extend spending access to family members from a single shared balance.
Overview
The Family Card is a supplementary card feature available to Pionex Visa Platinum users. Rather than requiring a family member to open their own account, the feature allows a primary cardholder to issue an additional card that draws from their existing USDT balance. The cardholder retains full visibility and control over the account throughout.
The feature can be found within the app under Wallet → Exclusive Benefits, where it appears as a tile labelled "Family Card".
How it works
Once activated, the supplementary card shares the primary cardholder's main balance. The family member uses their own card for day-to-day payments, while the account owner can set individual spending limits and monitor transactions in real time.
For 3D Secure (3DS) transactions, family members authenticate through their own phone number or their own instance of the Pionex app, keeping verification independent from the primary account holder.
The Family Card introduction screen outlines the key features before activation.
Key features
Shared balance: The supplementary card draws from the primary cardholder's existing USDT balance. No separate funding is required.
KYC-free for family members. Family members do not need to complete a separate KYC process. Access is granted through the primary cardholder's verified account.
Independent 3DS verification: Family members verify their own transactions via their own phone number or app, without involving the primary cardholder.
Spending limits: The primary cardholder can configure dedicated spending limits for each family member and view a full transaction history.
Activating the Family Card
Activation is completed within the app through a three-step process: entering card information, reviewing and confirming, and receiving confirmation once the card is issued.
The activation form requires the family member's Pionex UID, personal details (name, date of birth, contact information), residential address, and a photograph of their government-issued ID.
The full activation steps are as follows:
Locate the feature. Open the Pionex app and go to the Wallet tab. Ensure the Visa tab is selected, then scroll down to the Exclusive Benefits section and tap the Family Card tile.
Review the feature overview. The app presents a summary of the Family Card features. Tap Confirm to proceed to the activation form.
Enter personal details. Provide the family member's Pionex UID, an optional note, their full name, phone number, email address, date of birth, and country or region. Tap Next Step.
Enter address and upload ID. Input the family member's residential address (house number, city, street, and postal code) and upload a photo of their government-issued ID. Tap Next Step.
Name length. The family member's full name is subject to the same limit as a Visa card application: first name and surname combined, including spaces, must not exceed 25 characters. A longer name cannot be submitted. The name must match the family member's identity document, so contact customer service rather than shortening it.
Confirm and complete. Review all submitted information on the confirmation screen. Tap to confirm. The Family Card is issued upon successful submission.
The Family Card feature is available to all active Pionex Visa Platinum cardholders through the latest version of the Pionex app.
FAQ
Q: Can I apply for a physical Family Card?
A: No, you cannot.
Q: How many Family Cards can I apply for?
A: You can apply for a maximum of two Family Cards.
Q: What should I do if a Family Card is lost or suspected of fraudulent transactions?
A: Freeze the card first, then contact customer support and provide the card or order details.
Q: Do purchases made with a Family Card earn cashback?
A: Yes, it offers the same cashback as standard Pionex Cards.
Q: Can family members under 18 apply for and use a Family Card? How should they fill in their birth year?
A: Yes, they can. In principle, card issuers do not allow individuals under 18 to use the card. However, since the Family Card is a supplementary card and the primary cardholder is over 18, minors are permitted to be issued and use a supplementary card. When filling out the application details in the "Date of Birth" field, simply select 2008 as the birth year.
Q: How can I view the card number of my Family Card?
A: The card number of a Family Card can be viewed in the same way as a regular virtual card. For detailed instructions, please refer to the “Online Payments” section of the following article: Pionex Card Features
Q: How do I cancel or close a Family Card?
A: A Family Card can't currently be closed or removed in the app, by either the primary cardholder or the family member. To stop it from being used, you can freeze the card, or the primary cardholder can set that family member's spending limit to 0. Neither of these closes the card. To close it completely, please contact customer support; after verifying your identity, we will close it for you. Closing a Family Card requires the primary cardholder's consent.
Once the Family Card is closed, the family member can apply for their own Pionex Card from their own account in the usual way. A family member who has activated a Family Card needs to have it closed before they can apply for their own card.
Q: Can I add my Family Card to Apple Pay or Google Pay?
A: Yes. A Family Card is added the same way as a regular Pionex Visa card. Before adding it, the family member needs to activate the Family Card in their own Pionex app by confirming it on the Family Card page. For the steps, see Digital Wallet Setup Instructions. If it still can't be added after activation, please contact customer support with the exact error message.
