Security Authentication in Pionex Card is a transaction authorization feature that allows you to verify your online purchases through multiple methods, ensuring a smoother and more secure payment experience.
The Pionex Card uses SMS verification. If you are frequently having trouble receiving SMS messages, you may switch to In-App Authorization for a more reliable verification process.
Where to find Digital Token: the entry's location depends on whether your account has a physical card. If your account has a physical card, tap [More] first, then open [Digital Token]. If you only have a virtual card, open [Digital Token] directly. "Open [Digital Token]" below refers to this entry.
How to Switch to In-App Authentication?
APP
Step 1: Go to [Wallet] → [Card].
Step 2: Open [Digital Token].
Step 3: Tap [SMS Verify], select [In-App Authentication], then tap [Confirm].
Step 4: Complete the security verification.
Step 5: The switch is complete.
WEB
Step 1: Go to [Card] → [Personal Card].
Step 2: Open [Digital Token].
Step 3: Click [Change verification method], select [In-App Authentication], then tap [Confirm].
Step 4: Complete the security verification.
Step 5: The switch is complete.
In-App Push Verification
When verification is required, the system will send a push notification or in-app alert via the Pionex App, prompting you to confirm the transaction and ensuring that all actions are performed by you. Follow these steps to complete the verification:
Step 1: Check the Pionex App for a push notification or look for pending verification messages on the app's homepage.
Step 2: If you're not receiving any notifications, open [Digital Token] to view pending authorization requests. If your card does not have a Digital Token entry, it does not use in-app push verification and no action is needed here.
Step 3: On the transaction detail page, review the request and choose either [Confirm Transaction] or [Reject] based on its legitimacy.
*Important Reminder: If the transaction was not initiated by you, please select [Reject] immediately to protect your account.
Step 4: After confirming the authorization, click [Approve] on the 3DS page to proceed with the transaction. If rejected, it will be immediately canceled.
What if my verification method isn't working?
If the verification method currently selected — SMS Verify or In-App Authentication — is unavailable when completing a payment (e.g. you did not receive the SMS code, or no push notification/pending request appears in the app), you can switch to the other method and try the payment again:
APP: Open [Digital Token], tap your current method, select the other option, then tap [Confirm].
WEB: Open [Digital Token], tap [Change verification method], select the other option, then tap [Confirm].
Note: Some cards only support one verification method. If no other option is available, please make sure the Pionex App is installed and you are logged in, then try the payment again. If the issue persists, contact Pionex customer support for assistance.
Why does 3DS verification trigger every time — can it be turned off?
No. Whether a transaction triggers 3D Secure (3DS) verification is not something Pionex controls directly. It depends on:
Card network rules (Visa/Mastercard) — risk scoring based on transaction type, region, amount, etc.
Merchant-side risk settings — some merchants (e.g. Grab, Gojek) set higher verification frequency to reduce fraud risk, even for small or repeat transactions.
As the issuer, Pionex cannot disable or exempt 3DS for specific merchants — this control sits with the card network and merchant, not the issuer.
Important Reminders
If a verification request is not completed within 10 minutes, it will automatically expire, and the related transaction will be canceled.
Keep your verification codes, passwords, and card details secure. Never disclose them to any third party.
If you receive a verification request for an action you did not initiate, reject it immediately and contact Pionex customer support without delay.
Note: The Pionex Card does not support the AVS (Address Verification System) feature to perform payment verification. Users and the platform will not be able to set it.
